Rita Largman, Ph.D. clinical psychologistAs a psychotherapist with over 40 years of experience, I bring an eclectic approach to the work and draw from interpersonal, cognitive behavioral, narrative and developmental approaches. Currently I see adults, couples, and families with grown children for long or short-term psychotherapy. I believe that all therapies have as their goal helping the individual bring his or her awareness to our habitual ways of being in the world and in relationships. As individuals, once we are able to articulate and feel into our patterns, we are able to either change them or change our relationship to them. In couples and family therapy, I work with the dynamic created by each person’s unique adaptation.

Over the years, in addition to brief psychotherapy, I have also developed a “family practice” model of seeing my clients periodically over their lifetimes when general issues, traumas, or loss occur in their lives. I value this model and feel grateful for being part of my clients’ lives over their lifetimes.

As a jazz pianist, I value the importance of developing one’s creative potential. I am a warm, interactive and intelligent psychotherapist, and I grapple with existential, religious and spiritual issues which we face either in the daily journey of our lives or when trauma or grief descend upon us. I hope to bring the wisdom I have accrued to my work with my clients.
